At Angela Wood Beauty & Bridal - your go to Toronto bridal makeup team, we create stunning and modern makeup looks while keeping up with the latest beauty trends. Our Toronto makeup team provides mobile services from two hubs: Barrie and Toronto, travelling up to 1.5 hours from either location.

We realize explaining the look you desire, to your makeup artist, can be quite confusing. So we've put together this blog to share our most requested bridal look 2024/25 - Soft Bridal Glam.

The pandemic changed a lot of things, but who knew it would also change the way we do our makeup. Staying home all day meant wearing comfortable clothing - hence the cute athletic wear boom. With that of course, came wearing less makeup.

Pre-pandemic our most requested bridal look was a bold Full Bridal Glam makeup application. This look entailed fully carved out brows, highlighting and contouring in creams and powders, an ombre lip, and full set of faux mink lashes. Plus, lots of finishing touches.

Fast forward to post-pandemic, and our Toronto Bridal Makeup Team noticed we were getting less requests for Full Glam. Instead, brides were requesting something softer. Something we now refer to as Soft Bridal Glam in the Bridal Beauty Industry.

So what exactly are the differences between these two looks?

Below is an example of a Full Glam makeup application created by one of our senior Toronto Bridal Makeup artists. Take a look at this before & after - just wow. This look is truly transformative. There is nothing subtle about it.

We find this look suits a bold personality. Someone who already wears makeup on the regular, and isn't afraid to make a statement. This was by far our most requested style of makeup pre-pandemic!

Fast forward to post-pandemic, and our most requested look is now Soft Bridal Glam. Here is an example of Katrina, the same bride, in Soft Bridal Glam. Can you see the difference?

In a few words, a Soft Glam application requires a softer eyeliner and brow application. Opting out of dark eye shadow on the corners of the eyelids and depending on the brides preference, powder contouring versus liquid. The lashes are also softer and more natural. With all of that said, a Soft Glam bridal makeup does still require colour correcting, and a medium to full coverage foundation to ensure a flawless base.

What we love about a Soft Glam bridal makeup application:

We love that soft bridal glam highlights the best version of our clients without going overboard. We love this look for hooded eyes too, as there is often less space to work in. Dramatic eyeshadow tends to close up the eyes making them appear smaller.

What we love about a Full Bridal Glam makeup application:

We love a Full Glam makeup application for its incredible before and after transformation. It's stunning in person and on camera. If your photographer works in a bright and airy style, the makeup will come out looking bolder in photos. However, when it comes to facial features, we find this style it best for brides with larger eyelids. It's quite possible the original look was inspired by the Kardashians, as this style suits exotic features beautifully.

We hope we cleared up some of the confusion around the difference between Soft Glam and Full Glam bridal Makeup. When it comes to choosing your bridal makeup, we always suggest you consider both your personality and facial features. If you love to be the centre of attention, you wear makeup regularly, and have larger eyelids - go Full Glam. But, If you're more reserved, have hooded eyes, and want to look and feel more like yourself, definitely choose Soft Glam.
